Engine cut out - any ideas?

The engine on my wife's 02 Focus 1.8 Zetec (Estate) has just cut out two or three times on her way to and from work. Apparently it restarted fine each time. It's due for its service next week but are there any obvious things to check in the meantime. I'll have a look around for loose connections but any ideas would help. Or could it just be due to the wet weather?
