This seems really weird.

Any theories as to the circumstances?

Cheers,

Eric

Sorry, screwed up the thread title ... and of course it's not possible to edit it.

The guy crossing the road might have mistaken the motorbike for a bicycle at a distance, and misjudged its speed of approach. Motorcycle headlights tend to be less useful than car headlights, so the biker might not have seen the man until it was too late to take avoiding action, especially if he decided to cross just in front of his van, obscuring his view. All speculation though - I'm sure the crash investigators will have pieced most of it together by now.

Tragic though it is, in most cases of people being knocked down by vehicles, following the Green Cross code would have avoided these scenarios. Yes, pedestrians have right of way on the road, but several hundred kgs of metal is always going to win in an argument.

So the poor chap decided to stop in the middle of a busy dual carriageway to pray?

I'm speechless*.

*I'm also going to leave it to someone else to point out the unfortunate irony of this story
