I think I prefer them to standard. Drop the ride height by an inch et voila.
I prefer the standard wheels as stated elsewhere but these wheels are growing on me. It looks like the wheels have a matt finish - are they painted ? The tyres appear to have increased the ride height - is this an illusion ?If it is have you felt any other effect on steering ( you say that it feels lighter). The wheels are painted grey gloss (which works nicely with Hammerhead). The tyrewall height and the width is different from the Zero Corsas hence you don't have the ability to swap tyres using the same rim. The ride height is slightly higher due to the tyre wall which also prevents the carbon front splitter being used as a rather expensive snow plough.
Functionality is very good in the wet conditions that we had during the week end. The P Zero Corsas would have aquaplaned going through big pools of water.

The Pirelli Sottozero tyre - and wheel data are the following:
Front: 235 40 R19
Rear: 275 35 R19
Summertyres:
Front: Pirelli P Zero Corsa 255/35 ZR19
Rear: Pirelli P Zero Corsa 295/30 ZR19
You see that the rims are still 19" as they have to house the carbon discs.

same as the original V8 sizes then - no reason why you cant run either tyre on either rim size wise as far as Im aware...the Corsas are an option on stock V8 rims...
which is good news of course as you have 2 sets of wheels you can do as you like with, and those winter wheels will fit a V8

My dealer is still looking in to for me but this is far from a done deal. The feedback that I am getting at present is that new wheels and tyres are required if I want to pursue the winter option. The standard recommended route is the one taken by Clorenzen. However AM have put some interesting wording around their recommendation - the winter tyres are just that ie intended for real winter conditions of snow and ice. If used outside of winter conditions they will deteriorate at a rapid rate. Conditions like today at circa 12/13 degrees, damp roads will cause the tyre to wear very fast. Unless conditions are below 7 degrees (and I was given the impression that this would also coincide with adverse weather conditions) then the tyre is not suitable. The discussion led to conditions in a formula one race where in a heavy downpour it was essential to have wet weather tyres but as soon as a semi dry line appeared you need to change back otherwise grip on the wet tyres, due to rapid wear, would diminish immeadiately. You can't of course change wheels and tyres every 5 minutes in the real world. So - we are left with whether or not the Corsa will stand up to a normal UK winter or if I should be exploring other options. Clearly in the worst conditions (and we do see that occasionally) the Corsa presents some risk. Is that likely to be any worse than the winter I spent in a 997 GT3 (I think on the same tyres albeit to a Porsche spec). I did have a couple of interesting moments but generally all was fine. The dealer is also exploring another option which will probably still mean a change of wheel. This involves the bridgestone tyre normally found on the V8. This is the same size as the proposed Sottozero but offers a broader spectrum of usage (used in all conditions)and wear than the proposed winter tyre. However it was also pointed out to me that usage of either the Bridgestone or the Sottozero would compromise both the ride and driving ability of the car. I will await their final recommendation but I think that, like the GT3, I will test the car before making a decision.
The choice of wheels/tyres depends ultimately on your specific circumstances. I was not looking for a compromise tyre (Pirelli P Zero's would probably be it) to cover all eventualities during the winter. In my case I have a Porsche tt cab for those days where it is dry and sunny during the winter and if it pours or it is cold I leave the Porsche in the garage and take the Aston. And for that blast down the Autobahn for the skitrip I need proper winter tyres anyway as it is required by law.

..and that makes perfect sense. I tend to use the V6 land rover for the worst conditions (and parking at the railway station) but want to use the V12V for most other driving. At the moment I think I am going to opt for the standard wheels only and wait to see what the longer term winter forecast is before taking any of the winter wheel options. If it looks like being a very wet winter I might change my mind sooner rather than later. The porsche TT and V12V is a great combination by the way and covers most eventualities (apart from railway station parking !)WantanewV12V said:
Just had confirmation from dealer (high level summary) - AM don't recommend use of winter wheels and tyres in the UK.
Forgot this thread when I bought my car. I paid less than £3k for my OEM winter wheels and tyres. As for not recommending them for the UK, I'd like to see the man who said that drive one on Corsas on Dales B roads this winter.
