Went for a drive

Good bit of multi-tasking there Rasputin, driving and taking photos... (What a nonsense that men can't multi-task.)
I think the third one is my favourite, though I quite like the blue sky and the reflection on the second one. I really like the colours and the atmosphere of the third one. If I could change anything, I would prefer to see the whole reflection of the swans in the foreground and I would either crop out completely those dried weeds on the left hand side or get a bit more in the picture. I hope you know what I mean.

HD'ARGH' indeed!
A lot of images I've HDR'd get the 'wow' reaction from any non-photographers I show. It's only other photographers that have issues with it
Here are the exposures I used for the first image:

And here is the best I could do without HDR (this was processed from the RAW of the -1 exposure):

Stunning! what equipment are you using? lenses?
Thanks for that
. These were taken with a Sony A350 and Tamron 11-18mm lens (all at 11mm).I'm still a bit of a newbie to wide angle shots, but I'm really enjoying it. Especially with the Tamron which gives lovely deep colours (it makes some pictures look like a polarising filter was used - odd, but nice!)
The thing I had in mind when taking these pictures, was actually advice given on Ken Rockwell's website (obviously he's universally loved on here
)..."Ultrawides are not for "getting it all in." Ultrawides are for getting yourself, and therefore the viewer, right smack into the middle of something."

I prefer the raw, without the hdr. They are all excellent tho, just not th biggest fan of hdr although most of my clients require it.
Funny of you to say that JT. As it's been mentioned, HDR really does stand out to non-photographers who maybe dont want to see what the eye shows, but want to see something completely different to reality. You only need to look at the BBC photo competitions to see that HDR wins the day here.Used in the right places, I think HDR can look stunning. Theres nothing wrong with a bit of PPing, and HDR generally involves less PP'ing than using one image and sorting out levels etc. On the other hand, theres nothing more beautiful than catching a scene in the right light at the right time of day to produce that killer shot. Its getting up early that causes problems for most of us!
I like HDR & never get a good response for my efforts from enthusiasts, but general public love them, I created a calendar of sunset / landscapes for friends and family Crimbo pressies and the most popular by far are the HDR images.
Having said that, I prefer No. 3 and the non HDR bench scene not to say I dont like the HDR bench though
I think its because people on the street like dream state images where as enthusiast try there hardest to capture real state for originality.
