marshaling santa pod
Discussion
The British Motorsport Marshals Club at http://www.marshals.co.uk/ would be a good start. There is no drag racing section, but I'm sure any of the regional contacts on there would be able to point you in the right direction.
Couldn't harm contacting Santa Pod directly either http://www.santapod.co.uk/g_find.php

Hi Daz!
Definitely contact Ian and Paula at SPRC...
Marshalling at Pod needs a lot of dedication - the season is long (remember we start mid January and run til early November)and the working days are long too!
But if you've got the real desire to do it, go for it - despite the long hours you'll love it... and we're a great team to be a part of!!!
Hope to see you soooooooooon!!!

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure marshall's at circuits are all volunteers so it's pretty decent of Santa Pod to pay theirs. Paid or unpaid the sport wouldn't happen without them so we can.t thank them enough for giving up their time.
Indeed. I think you'll find that it is rare for a circuit marshal in the UK to get paid. They might get a small payment to cover some of their expenses, they might get a food token, they might get a gift from the drivers at the race meeting. Most of them do it out of passion, dedication and enthusiasm for the sport. That isn't to say there aren't things that could be done to make life easier for them and improve their lot though. If you have followed the BBC F1 coverage this you you will have seen that they regularly mentioned the marshals and tried to raise their profiles as they really are the unsung heroes of motorsport. Drag Racing is no different, they are volunteers who give up their time to allow people to race and should be thanked for that.
I'm not going into specifics, but to repeat what I (and others) have said already, yes we get paid for what is mostly bloody hard work, but it's not very much. If you want to marshal because of the money then it really isn't for you.
Generally speaking I think most people do it because they enjoy it and want to take an active part in the sport. The rewards cannot be measured by what goes in the wallet at the end of an event.
Insight into what's involved in running an event can be found in a few of the Eurodragster interviews:
