My exhaust manifold has a small split in it allowing the hot air out and has caused some surface chassis scorching.

What type of welding do I need to fix this and can a normal Indie type garage repair.

Any advice would be welcome.

Depends on the type i guess, ie, you can have cast manifolds, but tubular stainless steel is pretty popular, and easier to repair, although it can split again after.

I got mine removed & TIG'd up by a local garage & had no probs afterwards. It should have a small hole drilled at each end of the crack as a crack stopper, before welding.
