Got some of those free 3D specs from Sainsbury's and thought I'd watch it tonight. Dunno is its just the poor quality specs or poor quality no make LCD but this looks pretty scrap. Surely theres a reason why this techonology has been around since the 80's and hasn't gone anywhere. It's becaise its bloody pointless and makes things look worse. Bring back monochrome I say. That is all.

I find the blue lens on the right is way too dark, only watched a few minutes of the show but with my right eye I struggled to make out what was happening.

The system in the cinemas using polarised filters works way better.

It was rubbish on both my Sony LCD and my JVC CRT set. In short, just rubbish...

I didn't get as far as the Derren Brown thing, I watched the Queen in 3D programme.

Or at least tried to.

First of all there was all this, Now put your 3D glasses on, now take your 3D glasses off malarkey which never allowed your eyes to adjust because something really didn't seem right. Then both of us got bad headaches about half way through and thought sod this for a game of soldiers.

The bits we did see. Most of the crowd shots I could make out were 3D but the Mrs struggled, and frankly these were completely pointless. Closer shots of the Royal party were more obvious but added nothing really in the scheme of things.

The only shots in the bit that we watched that were anything were the sort of trick footage designed to show off 3D, there was a ball coming out of the screen, and a mechanical digger swinging the bucket round close to the camera. Other than that load of crap.

This perhaps explains why 3D has been resigned to trick footage in theme parks.

Even the best examples of 3D have always looked to me like cardboard cutouts staged in a three dimensional format. There's never any 'shape' to the objects.

I started a 3D movie thread a while back and it's interesting to see that a lot of 'normal' viewers don't like 3D whilst the movie makers love it.

Always found it a bit uncanny and unreal looking the cardboard cutouts is a great description.
