Objects that are a bit special

Inspired a little by Eric Bana on Top Gear; there are things people have that have an enormous amount of sentimental value, far in excess of their actual monetary worth. Everyone has them. What are yours?

- 1996 Squier Stratocaster. My first electric guitar, still plays fantastically well despite being chipped and scuffed and I recently upgraded the electronics. If I were to sell it I'd probably get about £75.
- A small moneybox in the shape of a skull that my brother got me when I passed my GCSE's (9 years ago). It's on my desk at work now. If anything that's worth more to me than the guitar, though you can probably buy a new one for a fiver.
I don't have them any more but when I was at primary school, we had a bring and buy sale.
So, I set off for the sale with my donation of 2 naff framed pictures that my Mum had given me to offer up for the school.
I handed them in to be added to the other items later to be sold to raise funds for the school.
Come sale evening, I came across the pictures for sale on a stall and bought them back as I was upset that they would be leaving our household. :-|

I found where you can buy a new, boxed Sega Megadrive with 2 controllers 16 games built in for €30.

A large barometer that used to belong to my grandparents. As a kid I always used to tap it and watch the needle move. They said years ago that I would have to have it when they die. One died, the other's in a home so the barometer is now in my house. Doesn't fit with the style decor at all, but it's the sentimental value that earns it it's place.
A shotgun that belonged to my Great Uncle, Grandad, Dad and now me. It's not a posh game gun but a working gun that has been looked after and used regularly. The man who bought it was a poor crofter and fisherman and the gun has provided food for my family for over a hundred years. It's not worth much fiscally but I'll never, ever part with it until I give it to my son on his 18th birthday.
I have a bottle of whisky that my wife bought me as a wedding present. It's a 40 year old Bunnahabhain. A big dram was had on our first anniversary, one when my son was born and another when my daughter was born. So it's kinda special to me.

1963 Lambretta Li125 that my grandfather gave me when I was 17 and old enough to ride it. He had it from new, on his death a couple of years ago I restored it. The scooter now sits in my conservatory, much to my OH's disgust, however she does say it's useful for putting the ironing on as she does it.

Then Moonwalker came out and millions of kids, upon hearing Smooth Criminal blasting from their TVs were blown away (that sounded like a pedo reference reading it bak, none intentional. RIP Jacko etc).
