Hey all,

Off to California with a mate, and we want to hire a Stang, or something alike. Anyone recommend somewhere that is good/responably priced?

We are flying into LAX.

Cheers.

Not sure how they stack up price wise but the major rental car companies (Hertz, Enterprise etc) have Mustangs.

You can use this link to see what Hetrz offer at LAX (Mustangs and Sebrings I seem to remember)...

I hired a GT from Budget last year in Florida...great fun once we managed to switch the traction control off

I booked a "convertible" through enterprise at LAX a year or so ago, when we got there we had the choice of v6 mustang or sebring

easy peasy

on another trip to phoenix, had booked a full size sedan, and was offered a corvette for no cost as they had rum out of full size, unfortunately we couldnt fold the kids up into the trunk! so ended up with a pontiac vibefrown and a discount voucher for next time

we thought about a convertible but then saw that the Sebring was the alternative so got the Mustang coupe instead as it was only a few weeks after Clarkson called the Sebring the worst car in the world.

Cheers guys! I saw Hertz does Vettes, but I couldn't talk my mate into it (and he is a PH'er - shame on him!!!)
Looks like a Mustang Coupe is what we are going to try and get. Can you fit 2 suit cases into one?
Is it better to book online, or better to just turn up and make sure they have what we want? Will it cost much more. I know he has a Gold Hertz membership card, don't know if it makes any difference.

Oh yeah, we are flying out tomorrow!

I got a Mustang Convertible from Hertz from SFO back in September. Was £750 for two weeks, when a Pious or Camry was £400. Definitely worth the extra!

Well I booked it, so we shall see in about 20 hours if they actually have one... Not sure who is going to lay off the booze on the flight, might have to flip a coin, as we are only going to drive down to Newport Beach when we arrive to a mates house.

It's a gamble, but if they rent V8's then book a V6 and hope they offer an upgrade on the cheap. We did that last year with 'ertz & saved $25/day.

A couple of years ago I rented the limited edition Hertz Shelby Mustang GT-350H. A very cool car once I had disabled the traction control. I had a very memorable 140MPH blast from Tampa to St Petersburg at 3.00am over the causeway. Damn lucky I did not get caught. Here are a couple of pics of me trying to look cool and failing badly:

and one we lusted after....a Saleen version (and yes, the hottie behind it was lusted after too, I have more shots but they're in the private collection!)

Well we got ours. Silver, but looked mean in white, and was to tired to go back and ask for that one. They didn't have a black and gold one, as we asked wink

Only problem so far as our bags didn't make it here with us thanks to an 'incident' as LHR....

Time to burn up some cheap gas now!
