Whats the dealio on these then ? £34 seems pretty cheap. They drain it from the bottom aswell rather than pumping up.

He triple confirmed Castrol Edge 5W30 Full Synthetic would be used.

They allow you to stay with the car to watch aswell.

Is it worth the risk...will cost me £40 to buy the oil !

( this is just a half way oil change between services )

£34 for not having to get your hands dirty seems a fair price. Does that include correct disposal of the oil as well. I'm just thinking, if they wanted to they could change your oil and filter, and then turn around and try and charge you another £40 for getting rid of the oil.

yep, its a good deal - I can change my oil myself, but at these prices I get someone else to do it....they buy in bulk and use it to get you through the door...

While you're in, they will have a quick scan of the car. I'd guess that you'll need a couple of new tyres and will almost certainly need disc's and pad's in the near futurerolleyes

At least that was my experience.

Includes disposing.

All in £34..

I was going to do it myself but remembered their offer a while ago. Even without the offer it's very reasonable scratchchin

I'll just slip in that it had it's MOT yesterday and it flew through with absolutly no worries hehe

No I'll leave the MOT certificate on the drivers seat, it was actually done at the end of October biggrin

If you have an undertray they will rip it off and not put it back on correctly, in my experience.

Is there a limit on engine size? So its £34 for a 1.3 or below or £££ for larger engines?

Just thinking that mine takes over 7L of oil. I am sure they can get it much cheaper, but it looks to me like Castrol Edge is about £40 for 4L. I'd need two of those!

I need 6.75 litres for the 330d. Costco wants £20 for 4L. So I need 2 !

Just go here and wang in your postcode.http://www.national.co.uk/order_oil.asp

Price based on supplying a maximum of 7 litres of oil. If more than 7 litres are required an additional charge may be applied in branch.

All prices are inclusive of filter and environmental oil disposal.

It will be a mong of a tyre fitter doing mechanical work on your car.
It will be a pattern oil filter.
The barrel of oil might be Castrol 5W30, but what is in it is anyones guess.
They will highlight the fact that you need 4 new tyres, despite having them done last week, and even though they never took the wheels off they will also strongly recommend that your brakes all round are dangerous and in need of immediate replacement.

People should take heed of AstraSRi.com boy and his error to try and save a few quid (which he still doesn't admit...)

I'd like to see them do a filter and oil change on my motor for that money. Dealer only filter at £20, and 507.00 oil that's £10 a litre trade prices...

If you know the outlet and or trust the guys its a great deal

i change the oil myself on my current car because its straightforward and I know its done properly, it defo costs a bit more than the National deal!!

In the past when I ran bangers I used to use my local ATS for this deal and it was always spot on:

I saw them get the oil delivered in containers, it was always what they said, not whatever they had laying about.

Undertrays can be a PITA they did tend to "spend some time" getting mine back on. Most older cars the trays are bodged on anyway by mechanics, plus you often don't need to remove them for an oil change.

All comes down to the staff at the tyre change really...

For me
Oil filter £3
Oil £Free (I know someone who can supply expensive oil for free)
Disposal = Chuck oil filter still full of manky oil in the bin
Pour waste oil down the drain whilst whistling a jaunty tune.

The disposal is a joke, I do actually dispose of my oil and filter at a proper council site, sadly whilst not whistling a jaunty tune, as I cant really whistle

It will depend on the car and they will be subsidising the cost of the oil/filter change by a hard sales pitch after they've had a look at you car.

Also Castrol Edge 5w-30W is bloody expensive even in bulk. I find it hard to believe that they can provide the 7+ litres required for some cars and a filter for £34.

Expect to be told that "your exhaust is leaking, your tyres need changing your brakes are worn"....
