I bought my Seamaster (full size automatic) about 4.5 years ago and paid £990 for it from a high street jeweller.

Now I realise that this wasn't with Omega's co-axial movement (that was only in the Planet Ocean's at the time) but now it appears that the high street is charging more for a quartz version of the Seamaster than I paid for mine! scratchchinhttp://www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/detail/R/573... The cheapest auto is £1,600+ now.

Anyone notice this too? Just seems like a large hike in price for the quartz - I'm sure these were around £600 a few years ago.

I can only comment on my planet ocean. the wife bought it for me 3 years ago for my 30th at a price of £1850. wintin the first 18 months it went up £150 and now 3 years later retails at £2150

but everything is betting more expensive

Hi there.. if I didn't already own a Seamaster I would have bought a PO at the weekend wink

£1850 to £2150 in three years is a reasonable inflationary increase but jumping from c. £600 to knocking on the door of £1200 in 4 years is a staggering 19% p.a. yikes!! Have I got the old price wrong?

I did notice this and wish I had bought a Seamaster when I first looked at them about 4/5 years ago when they were £1170 for a full size auto.

I bought one a year ago when the RRP was £1760 IIRC. Of course I didn't pay this but then I wouldn't have paid £1170 either.

Wow, i feel quite smug for once, i bought an Omega in Sydney Airport back in 03 and it cost £1050.00 for the automatic. Then everyone got the same watch, so i tossed it in the drawer and then got this one last year;

http://www.thebrandedwatchcompany.co.uk/watchdescr...

got it as a leaving present, i looked at the receipt and they paid £1800.00 for it with some extreme negotiation it seems, paid cash etc etc. So its appreciated, for once, something i've bought has gone up in value!!!!

I've had my Moon Watch for under two years. I bought in Feb 08 when retail was £1,675. Price is now £2,090. Pretty hefty rise. A I understand it the large rises in the UK were to equlaise the affect of the weak pound.

Note that a Moonwatch in the USA IIRC are about $5000!

I paid £845 for my quartz Seamaster in '04, i think the euro to pound rate caused quite a big jump last year.
