Looking to change my Z3 for something a bit quicker :-) so was thinking posibily about an M roadster( amoungst a few others)Now thanks to wheeler dealers :-) I know realise the the e36 is very affordable and a possibility.

I assume that the M3 has similar issues to be aware of as the M Roadster such as the Vanos prob? Is there the bootweld prob as well ?

What else should I be looking out for

They're heavy on suspension bushes and springs, so check for any unwelcome noises over bumps. If it's an Evo check the 6 sp. gearbox is fully operational as it is expensive if it goes wrong. Biting point is very low normally, not symptomatic of a duff clutch. A braided hose can improve clutch feel. You should feel a particular shove at 2500 and 5000 rpm if the VANOS is healthy, wouldn't get too hung up on noises. Rust is common, inevitable I guess, at the rear arches and the boot.

so suspension and vanos are the main issues to be aware of, anything else?
