I wonder if anyone can give me some advise. im in need of another set of tyres and since owning my Monaro have tried P Zeros which lasted no time, and Eagle F1s which are great but lose the edge of the type quite quickly.

Thinking of giving Toyos a go. Any recommendations?

Toyo's dont seem to come highly regarded on here, ive not tried them myself so wouldnt know from personal experience.

Im currently on the michelins which are fantastic, not had them long so cant comment on life yet.

I had TOYO T1-Rs all round on my VXR8 they were ace! Brilliant in the wet and soft enough for good dry grip but hard enough they didn't wear out too quickly.

I've been pleasantly suprised with the set of Nexen's i've got on mine at the moment. Great grip, have lasted for a long while now and they're cheap. Will definetly buy another set once these have worn out.

I like Nexen's too! for the money you can't knock em. That said I currently have Michelins on they are very good. However, I will return to Nexens when the Michelins shag out, as for day to day driving its not worth the extra expense.....and yeah, I use Asda bog standard petrol and buy own brand cereals.

I ran a set of Toyos on the Monaro - once a couple of years ago. Loads quieter than the P Zero, but the steering feel was dulled and the back felt less secure. P Zeros have apparently a stronger sidewall than the Toyo's - even though they've the same rating. Car feels much happy on Zero's IMO.

Thanks all for your input as Im trying to get a decent balance between the car holding on and some sort of life span for the tyres.

I would go for the other Goodyear F1 Asymmetric, NOT the normal F1 tread.

Ive used the P Zeros, Michelin's, Dunlops and Bridgestones and although the Michelin Sports are id say the best, the Goodyear is just as good but, £70 a tyre cheaper. Bridgestone are a very good tyre in the wet and you get good milage them.

Ive used Toyo's on other cars which give very good wet grip but i struggle to get 4000 miles out of a set.

So if you want something which will grip the best in the dry and wet and give half decent milage id go for the Michelin at £250 each but the Goodyear is really not far behind for only £180 a tyre.

Good luck

I've been using Bridgestones for my last few cars, and find they work well. Being that they are the OE supplier for the VXR8, I think they make a happy medium between the Goodyear and Michelin on price.
