I was flicking channels last week or so and found a rather plump Hatton fighting a wrestler. Hatton was boxing and had to knock this chap out the wrestler had to pin him down. Wrestler chap kept jumping out of the ring. When he was in the ring he tried a cheeky little kick to the nuts Hatton doubled up and wrestler chaps grapples him in some sort of hug. Hatton breaks free spins round and lands a massive punch to the chaps temple game over.
It seemed a shame to see Hatton doing this sort of stuff.

with two fairly heavy stoppage defeats of late and the other things he`s got going on like the promotional outfit, the gym in hyde, the comedy career and tens of millions in the bank............it would be a shame to have achieved all he has to end up not being able to enjoy it fully a few years down the line.that said, i think juan manuel marquez is past his sell by date as well

^^^^^ as above I think that JMM is now past his prime and the schooling that Mayweather gave him will not have helped.

However Hatton seems to have lost the plot recently. I have followed him for a long time but in his fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao he was totally outclassed, yet he still states that Cortez cost him the fight against Mayweather and that bad prep cost him the fight against Pacman and he thought that he was winning the fight before the stoppage.

Sorry, but no f*ecking way were you winning either fight!

He should retire now, he lost against two great fighters, stick to training and bringing on young talent.

yeah man, i saw him interviewed before cotto/paquiao and he reasoned that cotto would win by stoppage because he rocked manny himself before being caught unlucky??????????

hatton used to box beautifully at european and domestic level.i even think he forgot some of his skills on the way to his smash and grab victory over tzsyu.against manny and mayweather he tried the bullrush tactics and nothing else.it`s as if he gets his dander up and forgets he`s in a boxing ring not an alehouse.shame because if you watch how he changed tactics in some of his early fights those skills executed in fights with the world`s elite would have meant that he fared better than he did.

Cant say Im shocked, but not sure I like it.

Hatton was the most destructive body puncher Ive seen at his build. He was a complete bd to the body. It suited his syle perfectly and he got his money on it.

He has done himself proud through his career and to lose to 2 guys who could stand comparison with the best of all time is no disgrace. He has nothing to proove and a lot to lose.

For Christ sake just dont get hurt Ricky.

Mayweather has appeared on the WWE too as has Tyson, its a lot of money for essentially nothing, so I say good on him!

You're right, he did indeed used to box beautifully.

Infact, after watching the Malignaggi fight I thought that Mayweather Sr had helped Hatton regain some of his lost/forgotten boxing skills and was quite looking forward to seeing Hatton work his way in against Pacman using the jab and then working the body. Having said that, I don't think that a prime Hatton would have bothered the Pacman we've seen in the ring the past few fights.

Also, Hatton took some huge shots against Tszyu and didn't seem too fazed yet he got badly rocked by Lazcano (which was after the Mayweather fight) and he's reknowned for having no real punching power.

I hope he doesn't get back in the ring in fear that someone causes him some real harm.

P.S. He looked awful for the Pacquiao weigh-in! I know he never looks in great shape but he looked so drained and fatigued. I think his unhealthy lifestyle outside of the ring has caught up with him.

I think that's it. Something, somewhere, physically, has gone wrong. Against Tszyu he walked onto some massive shots, and yet recently he's been knocked out by Mayweather and Pacquiao, I truly believe that if you put the punch resistant Hatton of 4/5 years ago in the ring against Manny and PBF, he'd have probably gone the distance (although still lost IMO)

He's nuts. What has he got to prove?

He really doesn't need to get whacked hard on the bonce too many more times.

Few sorrier sights than a boxer who doesn't know when to call it a day.

I'm still unsure about this return. So Hatton got seriously owned by two of the best P4P fighters of our era, he got knocked out. Lennox Lewis got sparked out by McCall and Rahman, two above average journeyman - but he still finished a legend by avenging both. Admittedly McCall broke down and started crying in the ring which made it easier.

If you look at the surroundings for those two fights it was all up in the air uncertainty. Billy Graham was coming to the end of his career and had nothing new, with Mayweather Senior his camp was a joke. I just felt awkward watching him sit their while Senior read poems on tv.

If he's serious about a come back, the JMM is a good tune up. Then see what happens but for the sake of your fans and our pockets keep it this side of the pond. I'm not following you to Vegas again Ricky boy, thats saved for David Haye now.

People get lured in so easily by boxing promo hype and are led to believe that someone such as Ricky Hatton is a great fighter. He is a good fighter and a great guy with a deservedly large fanbase. However, as hard as it is to admit, those boys from the Americas fighting on HBO in Vegas etc are usually the next level up in class (obviously this does not apply to all weight division, such as heavyweight, but for lightweight-supermiddleweight it's usually true). I find it a little embarrassing that Hatton fought to be 'pound for pound' boxing king against Pacquaio; someone such as Cotto or Marquez must have thought 'who is this guy!?' He was so clearly out of his depth fighting Pacman and Mayweather, being each one of their easiest fight victories, and surely would be the same against a Marquez/Cotto/Moseley/Margarito list goes on. I therefore really hope he doesn't take on Marquez as I fear another lesson would be coming Ricky's way. I would prefer much more to see him fight Amir Khan. It would at least have more interest for the British audience, get him one last big pay day, and it would be a great way for him to pass on the mantle, and hopefully fans, to Amir Khan as one of Britain's brightest hopes. With Khan's talent and now having teamed up with Freddie Roach, this boy really could make the big time and do us proud in the ring in America.

Of course if Hatton does take on Marquez then fingers crossed he'll prove me wrong, but as long as he doesn't get too badly hurt I'll be happy.

He wouldn't get anywhere near the pay day fighting Khan and if he lost it wouldn't do him any favours whatsoever, if he won, they'd say it was against a rookie, he has nothing to gain by fighting Khan.

Marquez however, is quite the opposite.

bringing this one back from the dead - Ricky Hatton has confirmed that he will fight again in 2010.

Thoughts are JMM, UK fight in Summer.

Ricky, just give it up mate. Don't get back in the ring.
