driving sim/racing game choice

Hi folks,

A long time ago, before wife and children, I was a gamer.

I now have the opportunity to 'game' again, but I am totally out of touch with the world of games.

basically, my gaming mainstay was driving games.

So, the question I put to you is, which console, which controls (steering wheel?) and which games?

I like realism, a good choice of cars, and ideally, a game with some real circuits (preferably British ones!)

Forza 3 with the Fanatec Wheel is a VERY good bet. Manual clutch and H-Shift box as well

Xbox 360, Forza Motorsport 3, Microsoft or Fanatec wheel depending on your budget. Done.

does the new one have good tracks?

how does it compare with the latest GT?

The new one has lots of good tracks yes, and plenty of things to tweak for months to come.

As for comparing with the latest GT, well you can play Forza 3

Live For Speed is an enjoyable sim. The car choice is pretty dry, but there is a confirmed update arriving at some point with improved physics, rockingham and 2 new cars. The physics are definetely one of the best in the biz, but it lacks in the eye candy department.

If you are looking at getting back into PC or PS3 car games, definetely get a Logitech G25.

For realism, I would recommend PC sims and a G25.

RFactor, GTR Evo, GTL, RB Rally, LFS, IRacing.
