E9x M3 Service Cost
Discussion
The time is nearing (rapidly) for my E92 M3 to have its first service after the initial run-in oil change. I have been given a price of £450 including VAT from my local BMW AUC for the oil service, air filter and micro Filter changing as per the schedule.
I'm in the process of ringing round a few other BMW AUCs as the service my local BMW dealer has gone down while their charges seem to be going up.
I know it's not the most interesting topic but what is going rate from an AUC for this work?
Thanks in advance.
GoM.

Yup - looks like I was right about the local AUC being a tad expensive which is a shame as I've been with them for many years and bought a fair few 'M' and standard cars from them.
Just booked it in at another AUC for a more reasonable £340 inc VAT. I like to look after my cars and don't mind paying for a good job but I hate being stiffed, especially as a loyal customer.
Thanks for the response.

blimey and oil service is £340! ouch
how much are the inspections?
It's this new fangled condition based servicing rather than Inspection 1 or Inspection 2 services. This is the first service cost I've had to pay in 2 years. The ickle onboard 'puter tells you what is due for replacing/changing depending on a scheduled time or how hard you've been driving your car.how much are the inspections?
With a bit of luck won't have to see a BMW dealer for another two years.... which is a bonus.

Ps: they tried telling me it expensive coz it's a complex car. My response was "you're changing the oil by draining it not stripping the engine". This was followed by silence then a lot of 'erring', followed by the "we have to use special M spec oil, sir", which they charge £16 per litre for.
This was nearly as amusing as another BMW dealer charging £23 to reset the brake fluid service indicator. I told them if it took them that long they should send they're guys on a computer training course. Its the old line of 'Computer User Needs Training'.
All part of the ownership fun.

i had the same problem when my run in service was due.
they quoted me 450 from my local dealer.
so i complained to my supplying dealer that a lot of people get the run in service free when it is supplied new in the end they agreed to do it for free.
it might be worth while asking the supplying dealer and kick up a fuss if your are a long term customer of there s.
hope that helpes

After two quotes of £350 from other BMW AUCs in the area I went back to the dealer who quoted £450 and have used for 12 years, and all they came up with was "their pricing is correct".
The AUC the car is now booked in with is virtually the same distance the other way so no loss for me. However the original AUC has now lost a customer for servicing and also car sales. It's a shame but I'm not going argue with them to give them my business.

I've got the brake fluid service coming up and I'm mindful that it only cost groucho £75 on an e60 M5, so the M3 should be less as by their criteria its 'less complicated', right?

The dealer is Stratstone BMW in Harrogate so it may be worth contacting one of the group depending where you are based in blighty. Just tell them you've had another dealer quote for £70 and you'll book with them if they beat it.
If they need the work they should be pretty flexible unless they're like the first one I asked for a quote from. They must have business coming out of their ears. Thieving numpties.
I paid £90 for my brake fluid change last week which started the alarm bells ringing and the conversation about having to pay £23 for them to plug a laptop in. They were pushing hard to get the service booked in as well, now I know why.
Good luck and happy haggling.

Well, I had the service done on the car today and I was expecting something to be not quite right given the price difference of £110 from the original supplying BMW dealer.
I can honestly say everything was spot on. The price was correct, they used Castrol TWS oil, they changed everything need to be one and cleaned it inside and out. They have a smaller site which is probably why they can offer better prices and not charge for using a Visa card, or perhaps they like to be able to sleep at night.
If you're in the Leeds area try Stratstone BMW Harrogate, they're on the outskirts so it's not too far to travel. (and no, I'm not linked to them in anyway).

I'm not linked to Stratstone Harrogate either but they've done all the servicing on my E46 M3CS and on the whole they're very good to deal with. The bill for my last oil service was £95 plus the cost of the oil (which I supplied); just over £150 in total, not bad for an M3 IMO!
The only thing I have to remember to do is ask them NOT to wash the car; they give it a jet wash, don't have time to leather it off and it just dries streaky and (usually) ends up looking far worse than when it went in!
