... wasn't doing anyone any harm ...

... and I very much doubt " Big Al." just happened to stumble in to this sleepy backwater of PH, notice the thread and the do his locking thing ...

... no, I believe that some small minded individual reported it.

I'd love to be able to understand what the motivation was.

Cheers,

Thanks mate i thought it was a bit childish.

There is other forums that have a jokes thread but they have not been closed down.

Must admit some of them were funny laugh

...on the other hand, he locked it a couple of minutes after the latest post, i.e. just after it would have appeared at the top of the "What's New" list. smile

Big Al probably checks the scotland forum more often than you think. He was the moderator that helped out Stang with the HH09 threads if you remember.

For the record nobody pressed any report button, so put away the claymores. smile

I browse all forums all the time, The Scotland Forum IMHO isn't a sleepy backwater as you put it. It's a forum for all the members north of the boarder to arrange meets and discuss local events etc. It's not for joke threads, as I said in my closure post we already have a jokes thread and that has been running for a long long time.

By routine ALL joke threads regardless of the forum are closed and directed to the Sean Connery thread in the Lounge.

However if you see any we miss then please report them, so we can keep the forums from duplicated threads. smile

HTH

hi guys, it hurts to say i got an e mail from the administrators saying (now this was a week after i posted it) that a joke i put on was a little rude to the female staff in the office and had been removed. i hope this isnt why it was completely closed

As I said below it was closed because we already have a joke thread running in the Lounge, no other reason.
