Valentino Rossi to race a Ferrari at last

Reigning seven time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi will drive a Ferrari 430 sporstcar in this weekend's Vallelunga 6 Hours endurance race.
Rossi's entry in the event has been rumoured for some days, and now officially confirmed.
The Doctor will naturally race with the #46 and share driving duties with his friend and MotoGP helper Alessio 'Uccio' Salucci as well as fellow Italian Andrea Ceccato.
Practice will take place on Friday and Saturday morning, with qualifying on Saturday afternoon. The race will start at 9.30am on Sunday morning.
Rossi is no stranger to four-wheels, having taken part in sporadic tests for the Ferrari F1 team since 2004 and made countless rally appearances - including three WRC entries.
The 30-year-old has to wait until February before he can test his Yamaha MotoGP machine again.

........ummhhh, so if you were offered a decent length test session in an F1 Ferrari at a half decent F1 track you'd have to say sorry, can't make it, I need to concentrate on decorating the house this year?

.I view all of these 'one of tests' as marketing exercises more than actual tests, and as a result take the published results with a pinch of salt. It's similar to the Schumacher Ducati test. There were various reports from people on the ground that he was no-where near the laptimes that were published in the press.
To add to this debate, this is from the bbc website (below). In my opinion this is awsome from rossi and the sponsor will be very happy!
Rossi completed his own test in impressive style, setting a lap time of one minute 21.900 seconds.
That is just 0.230secs slower than the fastest lap of 2008 Spanish Grand Prix, set by Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.
The performances are not comparable because the cooler conditions of winter generally produce significantly quicker laps.
Nevertheless, Rossi, a seven-time MotoGP champion, declared himself delighted with his pace, telling the Ferrari website he would "have given anything for such a lap time" in what was his sixth test in an F1 car.

Like I said, Rossi needs all the pre-season testing he can fit in, as 2010 will be difficult. Not impossible for his 8th top class win. But difficult.
