Does anyone know how much these cost? and is it an easy job to replace?

IIRC I paid just over £100 at a BMW dealers. It is actually cheaper (parts are ~£30) but the technician had some problems so I paid additional for labour.

I don't know if it's a job you can do yourself. I certainly wouldn't have taken it to BMW given the choice, but the barrel comes from BMW in Germany.

Aslong as the key still works in the original barrel then it is an easy job of about 60 seconds on a good day.
There is special pin that is pushedin near to where the key is inserted...In P1 the pin will slide all the way in an the lock barrel pops out.

Key just span then the barrel locked up, good to hear a new one is easy enough to replace
