Simple query, but need a quick answer:

What is the normal distance from the top of the worktop, to the bottom of the wall cupboard? (assuming standard cupboards/leg sizes etc)

Ta.

Just over 450mm normally, to allow 3 courses of 150mm tiles.

This is a bit old hat though, as there are so many tile sizes nowadays.

You can give it more depending on ceiling height and your preference, just make sure you can access the top shelves in the units.

Cheers, I've fitted a few kitchens in my time - its just that all of my notes/drawing are at home and I was going to nip by the merchants on the way home.

Depends on the wall unit hights, taller wall units tend to be placed closer to the worktop so the top shelf can be accesssed easiersmile

Thanks, yes depends on a whole number of things, but I was meaning for the norm with a standard wall unit of 720mm.

ETA bitof googling

The height will vary depending on which size wall units you are installing but generally you should aim to leave a space of 500mm between the top of the work surface and the underside of the cupboard.
Cheers all.

Has some great details. Incidentally you will see that that the gap from worksurface to wall unit stays constant, irrespective of wall unit height. This becomes obvious when you consider full height floor standing units have std sizes and the tops of your cabinets need to match.

Of course, it also becomes irrelevant if you don't have a full height unit that you need to line up with!

Depends if you are having any tall units like a built in double oven or larder units, if so you will want your other wall units to be in line with the top of one of those.

The height is generally around 2092 mm depending on manufacturer .

If your not having any tall units i would usually go with whats already been said and go with what tiles you are having fitted so you dont need too make too many cuts!
