Yep solid, even if it wasn't i think it would be impossible to get it back on, cant even get a tiny cable tie on 
Looks like the only way is to split the joint but a splitter will damage the rubber !! It wont move any other way i've tried
So for now i've squeezed the rubber in for a better seal...
Might see if i can get new rubbers, the bloody ball joints are relativly new (fitted by a specialist

TBH Del the top top BJs aren't expensive, I'd just leave it and put a new one in as soon as convenient (so you keep matched pairs).
They should be a service item IMHO as they are worked pretty hard, maybe 5yrs/20k or the like?.

Mine are the same as yours Del with about the same miles on. Maybe we have the same supplier. To be honest mine went like that virtually straight away. Mines just been serviced at a well respected place on here and they never reported it, so they must be ok . MOT Friday let's see what happens then

Just buy a new balljoint & remove the rubber from it & fit it to your existing balljoint - that way the geo shouldn't be disturbed. Just get a cheapo ebay balljoint if its only the rubber bit you need.

Tsk tsk on the service, did they do the filter/grease the prop shaft etc etc . MOT Friday let's see what happens then I'd be surprised if they pick it up on the ticket
Don't think the ones that were fitted to mine came from the place i speced them from
Looking again they actually seal reasonably well on the taper now i've squeezed them down a bit with a tie
