bit off topic but why does the sun feel they have to tell us that the womans' house was worth £90,000? who gives a f**k? how is it relevant to the story? It's not as if saying it cost 90k means we all have an idea of the kind of house it is - a 90k house in london is a garden shed, while in newcastle buys you a 2 bed semi! so annoying!

No such thing for the police, as has been amply demonstrated by the M6 traffic division today.

the local paper reported this quoting witnesses as saying that the Police car had it's warnings lights and siren going and that the Clio pulled out of a junction into it's path (which I notice is not mentioned in the article).

Or by the Kent Police marked car which passed me the other day. I was doing around 95 when it passed me as though I was standing still. It had no lights or siren on, but was occupying the outside lane of a relatively empty motorway.

On the basis that the Police are increasingly going along with the line that speed is *inherently* dangerous - the condition of the road, the type of vehicle and the capabilities of the driver obviously having no effect whatsoever - I'd have been tempted to dial up 999 on the (hands-free) mobile and report a serious crime being committed.

IMHO Kent is one of the saner forces, but had I been in the f**kwit Brunstrom's neck of the woods there's *no question* I would have reported this - and followed through with it. No proper investigation? Report it to the police complaints people and tip off a tabloid.
