Coolant change on Ford Puma
Discussion
I'm going to change the coolant this weekend and before I go ahead and get stuck halfway through the job I thought I'd check for advice first.
Is it simply a case of draining away at the bottom of the rad, filling up then bleeding?
If so where is the bleed nipple and drain valve located?
Are there awkward things which could catch me ot if I don't know about them?
ta!
Yup there's a little drain plug with on the bottom left had corner of the radiator. There's no bleeding points. Ford instructions are to fill the expansion tank to the max mark and put your heater on full. Then leave the engine to warm for 2 to 3 mins. After the level has stabilised run the engine at 3000rpm for 2 fan cycles. Thats Fords instructions anyway.

Brilliant, thanks! What is the best way to flush the old stuff out?
I was going to empty it, fill it with water then drain it again before filling with new anti freeze, would that be ok do you reckon?
Take the radiator bung out but leave the header tank cap on. Then slowly loosen the header tank cap. You can then control the flow of the antifreeze out of the radiator and you get more of it out as it doesn't air lock. I've never flushed a cooling system when doing a coolant change unless the car is really quite old. I would just go with the antifreeze change straight away.
