Good run down today & some nice cars the accident sign was lit up as we got onto the M1 my heart sank when we saw a Tuscan in the barriers i do hope the driver was OK we were very careful on the way home

That is me. I am fine thanks, apart from a broken heart. just bumped my head in the window, no injury at all. I was so frustrated as i was actually quite carefully, gingerly doing 60mph/ 65mph. suddenly the car just went and spun. Obviously not careful enough. glad that I didn't hit anyone either.
many thanks to the gentleman with a red Chimera stopped by. and many thanks to all the assistance from the family with an silver audi(I think).

No TVR for me for a while then that is providing the insurance not to write the car off.

Oh man - sicky gut feeling at the thought of it but glad you weren't hurt.

Was out in the heavy stuff last Saturday for work - they do let go very suddenly.

im also very sorry to hear about your accident,i heard about the same thing,around the same speed happening to a t350 about 6 months ago. the main thing,is,your ok,the car can be mended or re-placed.

I just found the whole thing so ironic!! I was at reaching distance from home (could almost walk). Also it would be my last run this year before the next service. I am away during Christmas and due for a MOT/ service in Jan....looks like it was my last run for a while.

My forehead still a bit sore, but no comparsion with my shattered heart. Thought I was dreaming when I was spinning in the car, it just happened so quick with no warning. I guess she did good looking after me. Thankfully I didn't hit or hurt anyone else, a bit surreal when you were facing the wrong way of the traffic in the middle of M1. Amazingly the car just stopped by the hard shoulder...well I did press the brake.

Let's see what happen, will keep you guys up-to-date. But many thanks again. Meanwhile enjoy your P&J, and take a good care of yourselves and the cars!!

Wil pleased you are OK lucky the M way was pretty empty just there it could have been a lot worse if you hit something else. I had a real sick feeling when i said to my son its a Tuscan i can only imagine how your feeling i would be totally gutted. I guess you will have a battle with the insurance they seem to write them off for minor bumps these days. Why do they go sideways with no provocation i think it is the LSD one wheel slips the diff locks & unless you are bloody quick you are a passenger after that. I had it at 15mph will turning right & the back slid a foot & a mate had his cerbera do this on the A14 anyhow pleased you are in one piece & are soon back in the car again

I think there were a lot of standing water on the surface. The car is just too light, so it aquaplaned. Well, I just hope you all watched out. I really do wish I would be the last one and it won't happen to anye one of you!! Don't want more TVR's go off the road.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I think you left the Ace at the same time as me and followed me onto the North Circular? Must be gutting! Out of interest, were you in lane 1 when you span? I've noticed that my Tuscan gets very twitchy in heavy rain when pootling along in lane 1 due to the water held in the ruts from lorries.

It's not just T cars, I wrote my Griff off the same way, hit standing water at about 60 ish and span round lots of times.

I noticed that on my drive home in my Griff, so I did that annoying thing of sitting in the middle lane. It felt far safer in the middle lane keeping up with traffic 65-70, than sitting in the left hand lane doing 55-60 due to all the standing water in the ruts. The outside lane was suicidal with puddles having formed across half the lane at some points.

I was actually on Lane 3. I now wish i had the twitchy feeling first. But no she decided to do a 360 all for a sudden. I hit the central barrier first then swept across three lanes to the hard shoulder...amazingly didn't collect anyone. Then the car sliding backwards facing the wrong way perfectly on the hard shoulder. I pressed the brake and the car parked perfectly on the hard shoulder, as the way the police would put it. Even the highway Agency staffs were impressed by my parking skill.

Roycebaby, I can't stand people stuck on the middle lane, but I now know why!!!

I have to confess that in heavy rain in the Tuscan I become a "middle lane moron" for the simple reason that it's safer. You stay out of the water in the ruts in lane 1 and avoid the standing water that often accumulates in lane 3.

Looks like you probably fell foul of some standing water in lane 3. Bad luck mate. Hope the car isn't too badly damaged?

It's not just T cars. Aquaplaned in my first Chimaera years ago on the slip road from the North Circular Road onto the M1. Hit the armco but damage was light as I was doing less than 50mph at the time.
Glad to hear you are ok, hope the car is rescue-able. Broken bodywork can look messy but hopefully what's underneath is stil good.

Bad luck mate,

These cars can be unpredictable in the wet. I was out on a m-way in heavy rain recently and the car (Chim) was very difficult to control. I have a new set of Toyo's on and they work really well.
