Guys,

Does anyone have experience fitting aftermarket electric windows?

I want to get a kit fitted to my Exige to replace the old window winders and cant decided if I should attempt an aftermarket kit or not?

Lotus can't tell me what parts to buy for some strange reason although they think all I will need is the regulator and switches...........?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Lewis

I've fitted some of the cheapy flea bay ones, on my kids friends 106's, corsa's etc etc.

They seem to work ok, the kids are happy enough, whether you'd want them on a quality car ? ...... your choice I suppose, I wouldn't see an issue.

I wouldn't really mind to be honest. I'd want them to work with the Lotus electric window switches however so that they look no different from the oustide - sure this wouldn't be an issue though to someone who knows what they are doing?

What's included in the kit? Do you think Lotus are right in saying all I should need are the regulators and switches? Or am I best to buy an aftermarket kit to make sure im getting everything and then just swap the switches for Lotus ones?

The only thing I worry about is that the doors are very small - not quite sure how much room there is in behind the door panel.

thanks for the info! I'll have a look..

big misconception that - the leccy windows installed on all new Lotus' are actually a lot lighter than the old window winders!

Yup, neither did I until about 6 months ago!

Lotus binned the winders for that very reason and even the 260 track cars have the electric puppies fitted now.

Just found someone who sells the standard kit, but it's £295!!!

Give Douglas Valley a shout and see what they have in stock? It's a bit hit or miss whether they will try and charge you more than Lotus though smile

I can't believe there isn't more to the electric window kit than that though.

Can you not get a copy of the S2 parts manual? That will break it down pretty clearly I would think. Sure someone on SE has a copy... otherwise a visit to MMC?

Tried MMC and they couldn't help - told me to call Hethel - who couldn't help!

Spoke to Geary at Eliseparts who has one for S1's but not S2's - said it was too complicated and didn't want to get involved.

Can't believe it's so difficult to get them swapped!

Yeah might try Douglas Valley and see what they have. I just need to know what to ask them for first!
