Hi All,

My Daughter is now at med school. The camera she has is a panasonic which takes good photos in the day rubbish in the clubs and bars etc. It apears to be set correctly but it does seem to be blurry in half light or when using the flash.

Anyone rcommend a compact, hand bag size quality camera that will do both well?

Without seeing the photos, my hunch is that the blurriness is either low shutter speed or incorrect autofocus - both of which are caused by caused by low light. This is more an issue of technique and the limitations of a compact camera, rather than the model of camera itself.

Is the medical school aspect significant?

Only in the fact that now she is there she is spending a lot of time out with others and is using it much more on an evening. Thanks for the ideas of what might be wrong

OK, just wondered if she wanted to take close-ups of gruesome things!

There may well be compacts that are better at 'parties' than others - eg very good AF or able to balance the flash, but I don't know. Might also be worth looking at the 'scene modes' to see if any of those settings help.
