dahon folders?

Had a Vitesse D7HG (Nexus 7 speed with chainguard, rack and mudguards) for a while. Nicer to ride than a Brompton, but the fold isn't as good, either in action, in the size when folded, or in its ability to be carried. Very cheap s/h or last years stock. You must shop around, as there is huge variation in price. They can creak a bit, and you mustn't grease the seat post.
If you don't need a fancy one, be aware that Dahon make folding bikes for lots of people, including Dawes, Raleigh and Ridgeback. As far as I am aware the cheapest, most basic one you can get is called a Compass Marine. It's only £99.

I have a Dahon Vitesse which I bought last year. Use it mostly when collecting/delivering cars. It's not the lightest bike, but its sturdy enough to cover 20+ miles comfortably at a reasonable pace.
I would say its the best thing I've bought in yers. Paid £299 for it & have saved about £500 in fuel so far!

well I went for the Compass folder as an Xmas present to myself.
Arrived the other day from Germany. V impressed with it. P & P wasnt cheap (think it came to about 120 all in) but it is obviously very well made and feels of a good quality.
Put some decent LED lights on it, and a saddlebag (which I've strapped onto the rear cycle holder as there isnt enough room after the light is attached to the seat post) and it seems like it will do the job.
I feel a bit of a tit riding it at the moment as I'm used to my road bike, but I need to lose weight and get to work so I'll give it a go.

Buy British, pay twice as much. As much as I like flying the British flag (I own a Orange, a Dialled Bikes and drive a Lotus). Bromptons are ridiculously expensive, it was hard for me to justify the extra.bromptom for foldup size..........airnimal for speed and bike likeness....
Dahon are very well made.
