Tamiay Lotus 72D 1/12 Model
Discussion
To while away a few hours in the winter I have bought my self a 1/12 model of a Lotus 72. The only problem is it came from an e-bay seller in Japan, so the instructions are in Japanese. That's fine for most things as the pictures are quiet good. But there are a couple of bits I can figure out .
I've done a Google search for the English instructions but I can't find anything. Does anyone know where I can get a copy? If anyone has a copy I'm happy to pay a few ££ fro you to scan them and e-mail them.

Were there ever English instructions for this kit? At the most, you will probably find the instructions are mainly pictorial with limited English comment. The bulk of the writing on Tamiya instructions tends to be in Japanese.
The Lotus 72 is quite an old kit. It was released when the 72s were still being raced in F1. Howerver, Tamiya have always manufactured their kits to a very high standard so it will go together very well.

Apparently there were English instructions for this kit but they are now very much sought after, mainly by collectors wishing to 'complete the package' I believe, so not people looking to build the kit.

From looking at it, it seems fairly straightforward. The little icons show what colour each bit is but you'll need to match the Japanese text from the colour chart at the beginning. Then again, the colours are quite straight forward if you've got some pictures of completed models/real cars.
The blue areas on the instructions seem to show where you need to apply adhesive.
The parts and decals are identified in English as well, so easy enough there.
Think of it as an extra little challenge in the journey of building the model.

Quite correct, not the 72, but indicative of the Japanese instructions from the Tamiya Big Scale series. Should have made that a bit clearer.

ETA:
There are a couple of guides for the 72 on www.modelersite.com , but they are a touch costly to my mind;

The Lotus 72 is one of the few I don't have, but I can't think of anything about that kit that would require written instructions in addition to the diagrams - and Tamiya's colour recommendations are generally pretty basic; you'd be better off looking at pictures of the real McCoy for those.
