Advice for a newbie considering a Cerb on PH classifieds
Discussion
Ive got a mate asking for advice on this...
http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1336925.htm
despite me advicing to stay with a RV8 model being a lowly Chim owner myself what other advice can you guys give on Cerbs (particularly this one).
Ive already warned that running costs could be high and the usual chassis inspetion is a must.

Well obviously we all love our Cerbera's on here. They are a high maintenance car, and will cost a lot more to run than a Chimaera, and are a totally different beast to the RV8 engined Chim.. The Chim is the Golf Gti, a Cerbera is a Civic Type R, you really have to 'drive' the Cerbera to get the performance out of it.
I'll probably get slated for this - but I think some people are buying Cerbs now simply because they are all of a sudden within their budget, they see them for £10 grand think 'I'll have myself one of them', and rush out and buy them, and soon realise they have probably bitten off more than they can chew. On the other hand if your friend has always lusted after a Cerb, and is now looking at them [i]bbecause/i] they have dropped in value to his budget, and he can now afford his dream car, then I would say Get one, they are an amazing car, high maintenance and have the potential to bite your wallet hard but they are a hugely rewarding car when on song.
PS Esso's old car looks nice, and I think he spent a lot on it and looked after it.

the only problem i see is that when you both go out on a drive he will have to keep pulling over and waiting for you to catch up
the car has very recently changed hands which could be a little off putting but does look very good and seems to have been well maintained, good looking car, good spec, good value.

How are you finding the short induction kit?

Only at the top end.
I reckon my little Chim is faster than any Cerb on acceleration unless it has a monster LS under the bonnet.
Thanks for the comments guys, i will pass the wise words on but i think the cerby annual budget may put him off.

I think that one of the guys who looked at mine had been to see this one. He certainly had the printout with him. If you like I can email him and find out....http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1336925.htm

Do you not fancy a little sniff on yours?
You would be running low 10's or maybe even 9's with a pair of slicks i reckon.

Hi All, the car now belongs to me. I bought it from Cerbie at the end of October. The reasons for sale are genuine. We have bought a house with extensive rot problems which were not picked up on in our instructed surveys. We need to get the house sorted fairly urgently so the car has to go. I am very dissappointed, it is a great \ well sorted car and if circumstances were different it would be a keeper.

To the op,go for it even more reason to as the cars was known to be well looked after
you will not regret it.
One piece of advice I was given when I bought mine a few months ago,
was all because a supercar has come down to the price of a focus it will always cost supercar money to run and maintain.
Still worth it though just go into ownership with your eyes wide open.
you will not regret it.

Ive passed on the information but am not sure how serious my mate is as yet.
Nice reg by the way.

Thanks. I've had a few offers of around £8,500 \ £9,000 but I honestly believe the car is worth the asking price. Its had sensible mods and the interior (having been re-upholstered recently) is just immaculate. I will be sorry to see it go but it does not make sense to keep it when we are just about to have to shell out a fortune on house repairs.
