New discs and pads required for the front (COOPER S).
Any advice on greenstuff green pads and 'middle of the road' vented discs versus standard EBC pads and discs? Minispeed.co.uk have both at £100 and £160 respectively. I presume that as they are road pads then they will work from cold?

Thanks in advance.

When I last did any research the feedback was the EBC's were very dusty, so you'd be spending more time polishing the alloys.

Performance wise, I couldnt tell you.

I have 2 types of upgrade disc and pad setups running on customers cars.
EBC turbo grooved with Red.
GTT Spiroslot with Kevlar pads.

The Spiroslot have the edge over the EBC. The braking effiency is better during fast road and track than the EBC, also using brake fluid dot 5.1 keeps a firm pedal when the brakes become hot....GTT give this free with the brake kits.

indeed they are i when i ran them on my coopers stock calipers they gave some of the BBK's a run for their money

if your looking for the best of all words all year on the road and a demon on the track the the XP8 compound is impossible to beat, if you want the best road compound then AX6, make sure you up rate the brake fluid to, motul RBF600 is the balls

ETA, unless your doing track days dont bother with uprated discs, none of them are worth the money, if your doing track days then the best thing on earth are the nitrac frozen soild 8 groove racing discs for the mini

Thanks for the response. As the car is used entirely on road I shall stick to the standard discs and take a look at the carbotech pads.

I'd advise to steer clear of the EBC GreenStuffs if you're into fast road driving. I cooked one set of them, and then managed to properly cook a set which were apparently the upgraded compound. In the streaming wet. I also know Lord Fomsport has had problems with these too from other forums.

Not again for me I'm afraid.

What are they like for normal/fast road use in terms of durability? What put me off buying a set were reports that they only lasted 3k (admittedly a on various track days) which doesn't stack up for me.

I use Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rear on my 2009 Clubman Cooper S, retaining the OEM factory Calipers/discs, (I did upgrade the brake fluid) and have covered 7,500 miles some of which has been track use too, and the results for me have been fantastic.

I use Nitrac 8 groove discs with Yellowstuff pads. This weekend on an airfield under similar use, a new CTR on standard discs and pads was suffering from some serious fade and had turned his discs a funny shade of blue. I didn't have any problems at all, they were pulling up nicely and not fading at all.

They do need to be warmed up a bit though, one morning it was pretty cold and luckily I was taking it pretty slow but when I came to applying the brakes for the first time coming towards a roundabout they didn't do anything. Now I just dab them on the way out of my street and they are fine all the time.
