After watching James May last week I dug out all my old stuff one old set from the seventies when I was a kid another set that is around 10 years old but the power connector broke. So just bought a new power connector piece of track but its a different connection. All my stuff is I think classic but this newer stuff is I think sport. Can you get some sort of adaptor pieces so you can combine the two types of track?

Certainly can - or could. Would be worth checking the Scalextric website.

No worries - have fun!

About 4 years or so ago I gave away 2 bloody great boxes of the stuff and cars and trackside accessories to a guy in Guildford for his son. About 2 years ago I got the bug again, so had to go out and but another shed load of the stuff! silly Not got the track up at the moment but the cars do make a really good display in my office - especially the Tuscan! biggrin

The way ahead is Digital Scalextric. Converted my sons stuff a while back. Six cars on the same track fantastic.

I use a shop on Ebay called Jadlamracingmodels. Very good and well priced.

If I had a spare £1600 I would like this....

Is it just the cars that need converting? I have loads of old track, would that still work?(I understand that the track is kept at 12v all the time and the cars regulate the voltage?)

I'd guess at new controlers and power packs?

You will need one of these. ( Not the best price just got the link from the Scalextric website)

http://www.scalextric.com/shop/pit-lane/power-and-...

The cars all have their own chips in them which need to be matched to the controllers. If you get two power packs you can race 6 cars. You can buy cars with chips fitted or buy the chips and add them to your older cars.

Once you have worked that out..Its onto Digital Hornby trains which is interesting...All for my boys honest...

How does that work? I have heard of this but being so out of touch with it I can't see how it works, surely the car in front on each lane is always going to be in front etc or have they some sort of TCR overtaking system?
