Took a shower first morning having got there very late the night before and not yet met the parents
Hot tap came off in my hand - boiling (seriously) hot water going all over the floor.

I did what any sensible person would have done and jammed by boxer shorts into the boiling torrent - which achieved the square root of fk all.

There was a shout by (now) FIL - it was at this point that I knew it was now coming through the Kitchen ceiling. frown

Her dad and brother came running upstairs followed by mum while i stood there attempting to cover my modesty with a hand towel.

Net result was 2nd degree scalding to my hand.
Ruined kitchen ceiling
Me feeling rather self conscious for the rest of the weekend.

Mine found me at 6AM naked with both hands holding onto the front door frame, I was naked and urinating.
I had just got in and was pretty drunk, not a great way to meet the father in law biggrin

My last Girlfreinds father was a homeless guy.......

First time I saw him was when we walked past him drinking on the street when we were walking home from a night out.

I was so mortified for her, we just kept walking and she managed to laugh it off. Funny in a massively uncomfortable kind of way.

Ex-girlfriend's parents, long ago.

I was really trying hard (was there for a whole weekend). At that time I was trying to give up smoking. GF's father was also an ex-smoker and we were talking about the pain of giving up.

GF's father: I still miss smoking, especially the cigarette after a meal.

Me: (Brain not in gear) Yes - I know what you mean - but I find the one just after sex is the best.

Difficult to say which of us had the reddest face.

The current mrs emsmans dad lives in wales, we drove up for the weekend.
Arrived at 10.30am.
Nice to meet you etc

Would you like a drink after the journey?
I would love a cup of tea john, thanks

Oh, i meant a drink.

I see, well how about a............
I have got stella
Oh, a stella would be erm, (oh st its not even 11am) most refreshing john, thanks

We proceeded to sit and chat, then watch a game of rugby, with constant beer arriving- i dont drink lager at all, never have-by the time dinner was ready at approaching 6pm i was done. Struggled to stand, got to the dining room to be presented with a starter of prwans in what appeared to be cream.
I ate them
And the roast that followed.
And the fruit salad.
I was then asked if i drank sloe gin- course i fking do, i mean yes, thanks, of course i do. That was followed by a glass of sloe sherry, and thats about the end of the evening really.
I woke up at 6 in the morning, face down in the spare room having wet the bed, i have no idea how i got there but by all accounts i managed to projectile vomit fruit salad all over the stairs and the windows, and all over the loo shower and bath.
If memory serves me, the atmoshere was a little frosty in the morning

First time I met the OH's father, I have him the wrong answer to the penultimate question on the IT box he was playing in the pub. Allegedly cost him about £50.

We got on well after that.

I met my M-I-L and F-I-L both one morning after some hot and heavy sex in the front room in front of a roaring fire with the then brand new girlfriend not knowing they were upstairs. They had been away and had returned back early from a few days away and went straight to bed before we drunkenly got in and down to it.

I nearly feel down the stairs naked when I went up to the bathroom to have a shower and this bloke walked out of a room followed by this lady.

Very uncomfortable silence followed for some months.

But I've been married now for nearly 16 years now and following a 6-7 year period before hand and in all that time it has never been mentioned.

First time I stayed at a GF's house I wandered downstairs in the morning and asked her mum if I could borrow a towel, she replied "There's one on the spare bed, as you'd know if you'd slept in it last night". Ooopsredface

My (now wifes) parents were giving me a good grilling whilst waiting for her to get ready...and I kept calling her the wrong name boxedin
After calling her Isobel several times (that was the name of my previous GF) her Dad reminded me her name was Natalie...oops.
That was 20 years ago - I don't think they ever said anything about it.

Before I'd even the met the o/h's father I had the fear. Ex US Military, he did stuff he's not allowed to talk about. Gulp.
Plus there's the silent exchange when you first met a girlfriend's dad: "Hi, I'm violating your daughter"/ "Hi, you're violating my daughter, and I hate you for that". Not conducive to a great first meeting.

But - he sent me a couple of email forward on the o/h's advice (she lives over there and he was visiting her appartment). The first was a powerpoint presentation on how men should see boobs everyday (so it contained LOTS of boobs) and the second was supposed to be of a bird that could make lots of noises.

It was not.

It was called 'White Wine'. A seven minute .wmv 'epic' of a lady having her 'A' used as a 'C'. At the end she... well expelled the result of the 'A' useage into a wine glass - and the rest you can imagine.

The o/h came over a week later and asked about the emails. I said the boobs one was ace, but I wasn't sure about the second. She asked: "Why, it was only a talking bird". Different bird, love. So I fished the email out of the delete bin and showed her. She was mildly unimpressed.

Funnily enough I wasn't afraid of her dad anymore after that.

Though when I did eventually meet him he took me to a bar, got me drunk, got me signed up to an amateur poker league (there's naff all else to do in San Antionio) and tried to Pimp me off to the waitress who "won't have heard a Brit before, you'll have made her week". Then he decided to have a wee on someone's lawn.

He's a hero.

A friend of mine went to meet his gf's parents for the first time. They greeted him at the front door, he walked in and shut the door behind him. Unfortunately, two panes of glass fell out of it and smashed on the hall floor.
