How to get photo stills from an old 8mm film?

I folks, I'm sorry if this topic has already be "done", but I just wondered if anyone on this forum might have an idea of how I could get /or how to go about , getting photo stills from my old 8 mm home movie reels?

I'd use a lightbox and a macro lens, and rephotograph them.
