That's all I want.

It's currently standard 500 but I want just a tad more volume, enough to notice but not too much that I can't track it.

What are the best options for achieving this with little spend ?

Removeing the pre-cats in each manifold will give a lttle more volume and if you do it yourself will only cost you time and a set of manifold gaskets.

For a little more volume and different not, try the ACT Cherry Bomb System. Removing the Pre-Cats combined with any exhaust mods, generally equals lots of noise.

Your better of listening to some ones car that you like the sound of & ask what they have done,Just taken out the pre cats & main catt sound great . My opinion only..Thinking about taking rear box out, but going to run it for a few months first,,

Hi , for what its worth i have stripped exhaust of both pre and main cats , and taken the insides of box out .
The result is definitely a tad more noise , i love it , think it sounds great .
Went to watch the TVR s sprint at Lydden a few months ago , and the very nice marshal with the noise level tester checked me out ; result at 4000rpm was 104 dcb out of one pipe and 106 from the other , giving an average of 105 which should still allow you to track the beast

Surely the easiest and cheapest thing to do is to sleeve the centre box!

No issue with track days or MOT tests then!!

Some interesting thoughts. scratchchin

I think, as mentioned, I need to hear some that have had these 'operations'..

Mine has a sleeved 'sports' exhaust conversion and both the cats and the pre cats are still in place. It is however very loud for some reason, 108db at idle and 119db max at The Growl this year.

This may be some help (LG's official results from 2009 Growl) :

Take the pre cats out and fit one of Clive F's Y piece's.for me that is the best compromise.if you want more start playing with the back box.for me this gives the best vocals without being too loud,i went the straight through route and found it just too tractorish.

I wouldn't worry about track noise... I have the full ACT decat sports manifolds and cherry bomb exhaust as Wildfire does. They have quite a different noise due to the engines, but are still both bloody loud. On mine though, I've had the pipes cut off about 30cms before the exit and have two sets of slide on pipes at the back; one straight through for full noise (around 109db at 3.5k), and one fatter set (still with slash cut ends so they look awesome), which brings it down to 101db at 4k for the track. No loss in bhp (tested), and they're so good in fact that I've left them on for the last month after doing my last trackday as it sounds lovely to drive and I've been doing boring journies only.

That said, I'm bored of quiet now and will be going back to loud this weekend! evildriving Takes around 5 mins (1 jubilee style clip with a bolt instead of a screw for each pipe to loosen) to swap them over.

How much were these out of interest? I will be looking for something similar soon.

I can't remember exactly, but around £100 IIRC. They were made as a bit of a one off as my old track cans were choking the engine after I put the blower on. If you give Tim Lamont at ACT a ring and say you want some track cans like mine, he'll know what you mean and can give you a more accurate price. Given that they've been done now though, they may be slightly cheaper...

Very pleased with mine though, they look the business and work a treat - knocking nearly 10db off, they are the best track cans I've seen thanks to their extra length. Not losing any bhp even at 400+ is impressive as well. Usually you lose bhp as well as noise!
