Religious Exemption

I have just received a letter saying that I must submit employer info online. Not a problem with this.

However looking at the exemptions it says:

"a practising member of a religious society or order whose beliefs are incompatible with the use of electronic communications"

WTF how could you manage to live and avoid electronic communication in this day and age. I wonder what the criteria are for a religious society. Perhaps I need to create a religion that is incompatible with [ad your pet hate] e.g. taxation, green laws !!!

What religious order would you form and what would you chose to be incompatible with ...

The mormons dont use any thing that requires electricity. However they have some strange rules regarding that including shopping in Walmart??

My next door neighbors are Plymoth Breathren and he has a company with a £10m turnover and no PCs.

It's against their religion. They have a fleet of high end VWs Touregs (spelling?) etc with plastic blanking panels where the satnac system would be.

Very nice people they are and their kids are the only ones that play outside in the summer.

We have them on our town too. Run a successful business all on paper. They also have a fleet of VW's maybe they get a bulk discount. Their kids are the ones who have to go home at lunchtime as they arent allowed to eat in front of other people. They also (as far as I can tell) arent allowed to play with non-bretheren kids as this would expose them to unwanted influences.

Oh and also, any time they show the kids an educational film or do ICT at school they have to be taken out and sat in another room.

Progress and religion dont mix.

To be honest, if they dont want to use anything electronic thats fine by me, I suspect they are significant net contributors to our society and as such they can have all the invisible friends they want.

So they can use computers as long as they're not touching them, a bit like a Shabbat elevator. Each to their own, I'm just glad I'm not one of their kids - my childhood religion was Gameboy Tetris.

Their kids are very polite, help my wife with the gardening and play nicely with the cat - more than can be said about any other kid in the village by a long margin.

To be honest, they are the best neighbors we've ever had. I'm not going to knock their way of life as they don't bother preaching to me.
