I know I should have asked before I ordered the car(due to be delivered next month!), but can anyone here tell me their experience of the Sports Chassis option on the Boxster 'S'? Is the ride and handling noticably different from the standard suspension? Thanks

Our mate Greg240 has tried both and was impressed by the difference, unfortunately he is away for a while.
Hopefully he will post an answer as soon as you wish!

ADParker. WHat wheels did you order on your new beast? Are you sure you'd want a "sports chassis" on 18" rims?

My normal chassis 'S' on 18" seems quite "in touch" enough with our British roads I can tell you...

I went for 18" Sport Design wheels. Will it make much difference from the standard 17" rims?

Others may disagree but I my view - yes. The 18" wheels

1) Look great
2) Are supposed to provide some additional cornering grip on a smooth surface
3) Are supposed to "crash" more on crap road surfaces

Personally I find the 18" rims OK on poor surfaces although some journos (EVO) thought it made the car skittish. I think that's tosh myself but there you go. Having said that I have the "regular" chassis (!).

My advice before getting 18" or a sport chassis would be to drive a car fitted with it - to make sure YOU are happy with the compromise...

Just that whenever I log on you're here. Morning, Afternoon and Night. Are you addicted? (You wouldn't be alone....). No offence intended.

Without a shadow of a doubt get the sports suspension.

The standard setup is way too bouncy mid bend on fast uneven corners.

If you drive your cars hard then you wont regret it !!!

Don

Bit late now, the cars due to be delivered next month, so no turning back now!
Thanks for the reassuring words though, I had a few doubts after reading some posts on the EVO site on the same subject but theyve been put to rest now.

Andy,

I have the sport pack on my boxster, and was luck enough to try the demonstrator without before buying.

You have made the right choice no question, the setup is much more responsive, and gives you more confidence in the car when going sideways through a blind corner on a B road at night. 8-).

Hmmmn. I'll have to reconsider the sports chassis on my next one then! That's if I don't lose the Boxster faith and get a 996.

Apart from Pistonheads of course, are there any other decent sites out there for UK Boxster owners??
