(It's all the fault of Simpo - every time he thinks of something, it gets me thinking something else.....)

So the PH collective should pool a small basket of cameras and stuff and every time we get a "Which Camera/dSLR/Speedlight/Lens/Compact/Accessory/Filter/Setting/Auto Mode/Aperture/Speed/ISO/Tripod/Aardvark/Viewpoint/Wireless Transmitter/... thread" we'll go out for a small fee and introduce/coach/develop/train/indoctrinate/educate/cajole/enlighten the poor pundit into some helpful state of mind about their intended photography ladder.

Obviously any expenses might have to be met - so I'll volunteer for any such assignments for PHers in Maldives, Mauritius, Dubai, New Zealand, North America and Croxley Green.

Obviously Steve can have the whole of Scotland, Simpo: East Anglia, Nick: most anything involving birds... or cars... well basically anything "Sarf of the River", beanbag: weddings, ... et cetera... et cetera...

I think an aardvark would help my photography. Which one would you recommend? Is the food expensive?

It would, but avoid the early versions as they're a bit soft, the mkII onwards are great though.

I have a MKII Aardvark and have have real problems getting it to focus. I can get the aardvark to initially focus using the described method of food trails but I find the aardvark randomly moves out of focus. My MKI version was much better.

Spectacles?

Then again, the Spectacled Aardvark might be a different species, and so not fit properly.

Perhaps the "hard on the outside, soft on the inside" nature of Aardvarks means they're all tough to focus.

At least they're weather sealed.

That's ARMADILLOS. Aardvarks work fine.

What are you using to get the Ants off your Aardvark? I need to clean it but don't want to damage it smile

Aardvarks should remove ants using an automatic cleaning cycle. You need to enable this in the menus. If that doesn't work, it's probably dead. Did you keep the receipt?

Ah... but I'm on Zebra 9.11 and Aardvarks don't upload properly to Zebra, so I have to use ParaSight (free download from their website). It's a great bit of kit. Makes HDR look like you were not drunk when you took the photo.

ETA... sorry it was Zebra 9.12... tuh! ... I'll forget my head one day!

You'll be needing a Butterfly to clean that off.

Or an Arctic Butterfly if you're a long way north.

Obviously this one is in a zoo and not in it's native environment. (now say in a whispery David Attenborough voice) Note the camoflage coloured fur, the red face is displayed because it's hot as the monkey's not currently in the arctic.
