Where's your favourite UK seaside resort and why?

I quite like Swanage in Dorset...Fairly quaint, not too large, lovely scenery, nice cottages in Purbeck stone, The Swanage steam railway, decent weather usually, no chavs, on the Dorset coastal path with old Harry nearby, traditional seaside shops and best of all a good old fashioned Punch and Judy man.....

Nowadays living in N Wales we tend to stick to places clsoe by, so for me, Llandudno, Benllech, & Barmouth. Southport is reasonably civilised too!
Minehead. It's a bit of a dump these days, but have very happy memories from my boyhood summers, when, no matter what else was planned for the family, we would always have a week on a farm just a few miles inland on the edge of Exmoor.
It's still got my favourite steam railway!
(Is one allowed to have a favourite steam railway?)

I agree Barmouth is nice too, a pleasant walk along the estuary bridge on a nice summers day is lovely.....

Aldeburgh.
Chav-free, Blue Flag beach, arguably the best fish and chips in the UK, Snape Maltings, The Scallop...
Beat me to it. A very, very pleasant place to spend time.Chav-free, Blue Flag beach, arguably the best fish and chips in the UK, Snape Maltings, The Scallop...
Although we do to tend to stay a mile or so up the road in Thorpeness. So to your list above, I'd add The Dolphin...

Brighton.
Why? I grew up there, moved away, lived and worked in a few towns and cities across the country and came back because I like it so much. It's not so big that it's difficult to traverse, not too small and there's always something interesting happening. It's cosmopolitan, diverse, has plenty of decent amenities and a personality of it's own. It's a great place to earn a living in my line of business as well.
