I just regard cars that are both a tier higher in both performance and pricing than the "base-level" (997TT, 430, Gallardo) supercars as hypercars.
Murciélagos, Zondas, Enzos, Veyrons, CGT, SLR. I'm tempted to say 599, it has what I'd call hypercar performance but doesn't have such a WOW factor, as it's designed as a GranTurismo.
If it costs more than £300k, or is pushing 600 BHP+ at stock, it meets my requirements as a hypercar.

Don't think a Murci or a 599 could be classed as hypercars.....they're supercars...
Don't know how to define one, but I'd put these forward:
Zonda
Reventon
F40/F50/Enzo
Carrera GT
Koenningnseggseggsegg
...that kinda stuff.
I'd go along with that Don't know how to define one, but I'd put these forward:

To me a hypercar is something so much 'more' than a supercar.
The Ferraris above and Reventon are either at near the top of the supercar list or near the bottom of the hypercar one. Whereas with the 'egg and Zonda there are no tame versions out there.

F40,F50,XJ220 are old school Supercars - They dont belong on the hypercar list. I would also argue that one-77 will be another Aston Martin GT car and the Front-engined SLR only just makes it in.Lambo Reventon

I would say a hypercar is anything that stands out from the standard "supercars" cars of its day. E.g. above the usual base sports car model and GT that supercar companies would have. Also one that is built in limited numbers. E.g. a 599 and 430 would be the GT and base model, whereas the Enzo would be a hypercar. If it's a company like Pagaini then you'd compare it against the GT and sports cars from other companies, which is stands apart from, therefor it's a hypercar. Although it's not a GT I would say a LP640 is a supercar, because it fills the space a GT would be.

I think the XJ220 does belong on the list - anything that can out-sprint a Zonda, belongs on the list!
New £105K Porsche Turbo outsprints a Zonda, 0-100 in 7 seconds. The Porsche 959 is another old school supercar that was about with the XJ220 and F40 but i wouldnt class that as Hypercar - these older Supercars as they were known then are still Supercars today IMO.Edited by Wanta996Gotta on Thursday 26th November 14:20
Hypercar, supercar, bla bla
My definition of a "supercar" is a specifically designed sports car that pushes the boundaries of design and performance, lending to why they cost such astronomical prices to by. The Macca F1 is your typical example, the no compromise, money no object (to a point) mindset to the way that was designed is what its all about. Spec wise these days its got to have a least 600bhp but has far as i'm concerned its also got to be under 1500kg kerbweight, bugatti sticking in a truck engine with four turbos and thinking they're good cos it knocks 1000bhp out doesn't impress me when it weighs 2 ton, its not just about power. Mid engines not a must but preferable and it would be nice if the engine was n/a and have a good rev ceiling of 7-8k rpm. Manual gearbox, with or without paddle shift but no autos. Minimal creature comforts (stereo, air con etc) and driver aids you can turn off completely.
