The pikeys who keep breaking in to Belgravia houses

right you know those pikeys who keep squatting in houses in Belgravia and the like.
It can;t just be me who doubts that they're actually gaining access through 'open 1st floor windows' etc. these houses are worth >£30m no flipping way do they have windows left open. even if you were worried about air flow or soething you'd sort out some sort of aircon sort of system or dehumidifcation or something...
so who's doing what and what's going on?

If nothing is actually broken to gain access then I think it's legal. You're probably right that most places will be locked up, but so as long as they fix anything they break to gain access, there will be no evidence of wrongdoing.
There are loads empty, expensive properties in London, if you don't need the rent it's easier just to leave it empty - squatters know this.

Chav A smashes window/levers open door, enters, steals the light fittings and then runs off...
A few days later a happy bunch of squatters pass by and happen to see that Mr Chav A has left a window open... so in they hop....
The squatters did NOT break to enter, and therefore are commiting the offence of tresspass, which is a civil matter not a criminal one!... Simples!
