As often as I can, and as often as I can afford, I 'Cruise'. I have sailed with Cunard (top notch), Celebrity (very good) and RCL (good but a bit chavvy on occasion).

I keep on getting offers to sail with Fred Olsen and the routes/deals are good but I don't want to risk sailing with a new line in case tghey run out to be poor quality.

Has anybody sailed with Fred Olsen and either Clebrity or Cunard for comparison?

Haven't sailed with them but can’t comment first hand, but we we’re warned off them as they cater for a much older clientele, we’re in our 20’s and were told the average age on board is usually over 70 which put us off. A friends parents sail with them every year and have done for some time, apparently they book the same cabin each time, so they can’t be bad.

We’ve been with Princess and RCL and found them both very good, but we tend to like the bigger ships which Fred Olsen doesn’t offer.

The best advice I can offer is to take a look at the reviews on cruise critic.

I don't mind the older people, but like the good to be good and the cabins to have a bit of luxury. Cunard is hardly 18-30!!!

Surprised about the RCL being referred to as chavvy, have sailed with them a few times around the Caribbean, granted there tends to be more then a few yanks, but have never found the guests to be from the lower end of the social spectrum.

Avoid Thomson at all costs unless you want a week long lesson in nylon football shirts and bleach blond perma tanned guests

You're in your 20s and you go cruising? My Gran goes cruising and she's considered a youngster at 79!

We've been on a few cruises and absolutly love it; pick the right cruise line and it’s anything but a floating OAP’s home. RCL are the best we’ve been with so far, the amount they offer onboard is just mind blowing. Not to mention the food, which is so good its worthy of a thread of its own!!!

My grandparents have been on at least 8 Fred Olsen cruises. They love them, as the boats are not too big!
