Casserole been in the oven for a hour, maris piper potatoes simmering for mash and corgettes just getting a little soft. Then realise the dishwasher has still not finished its cycle and you have no plates (bugger)
Everything on the back burner until I get a plate.

That's not an "Oh, crap!" moment. Try picking up the s/steel pan that's been in the oven for an hour at 200°C.

Use a big bowl. Or, possibly for you, the bath. hehe

Einstein's theory of relativity. Grab hold of a hot pan, second can seem like an hour. Put your hands on a hot woman, an hour can seem like a second. It's all relative.

Hardly a massive inconvenience to open the dishwasher, pull out a plate and give it a quick rinse and dry is it?

Normally I'd agree. But this is Cotty, and the simple task of washing and drying a plate could well be a half hour job, due to the enormity of said crockery. I reckon a vileda supermop would get in done under the 15 minute mark, but still..........
