Some Questions for the winter fetteling
Discussion
Evening boys and girls,
OK... so just back from the garage as I assess the small jobs that need to be done over the dark and cold months. Your communial advise will be appreciated!
Wipers: The spline that connects the wiper to the mechanism (on the passenger side) has sheared after a huge downpour a few weeks back. Is that a repacement of the whole mechanism, or can you get a new spline? + Are the Leven wipers with the better washer fluid jet system worth the cash?
Windows: On both sides they are "reluctant to proceed" either up or down when the doors are opened or closed + the window on the drivers side will not go past 1/2 way when you request via the spinny control to fully close. In addition the drivers side window "clunks" when it reaches the fully down position and has previously been bloomin' slow to 'wind up closed' when requested. But like I have said it has now decided that 1/2 way is enough!!!
Cooling Fans: Drivers side fan kicks in at circa 92oC, and brings the temp down nicely, but the 2nd fan (on the passeneger side) hasn't kicked in. I left the car running for about 10 mins when it reached the 90's. Is this OK or is this a fuse/ soleniod issue (I haven't checked them yet, but though best to ask this one before I go crawling under the footwell.
Also is there a 'bible' like the book/ manual that you got for the Chim/ Griff????
Other than that.... all seems to be well.
Thanks for looking in and thanks for your responses (although I have heard the old "they all do that, sir"... being an ex-Griff-ter)
Cheers
Martin..

I would have thought at the end of the day it would be more straight forward to swap the whole assembly. The Leven wipers are MUCH neater looking and less prone to lift at speed.

For a quick fix try lubricating the rubber runners as they can dry out. If that doesn't work clean off any corrosion on all the connectors from the motor back to the contoller.Marto said:

This should be fine as the first fan comes on at about 89-92 degrees and the second (I think) at about 98-100. My second fan has never come on to cool as the first stabalises the temperature without a problem.Marto said:

If you do a search for the member 'VarleyHD' you will find a manual for the Sagaris which at least rivals a professionally prepared item. HTH.
The driver side fan comes in at around 90-92. Mine many times wont stop, so have to assume the "TVR position" (upside down under the steering wheel..) and take the fan fuse out to make it stop.
I have bought Graham's book but it is for the Sagaris. Having said that, the cars share many parts, and in the absence of a Tuscan bible, its the next best thing. And from what I have seen, Graham sometimes helps out in the Tuscan forums..
