After only 20 months, it is over.
Some person with generations of interbreeding has levered open the garage and stolen my Orange 5 SE and my Orange G2.
I am thanking my lucky stars that I was out in the car at the time.

Sooo, Both bikes are very distinctive, the 5 has a custom blue paint job (bedded in with wvery rock between the Purbecs and Afan) and is probably the only '5 in existance with "Gooby" and a PH sticker across the rear swing arm. The G2 is also ditinctive as it is kitted out with XT.

Please if you see them, contact me and I will give the rider the benefit of spending 12 years in a dojo.

Ar$e. It's a horrible feeling (as I know only too well from recent experience).

Insured, right?

Whereabouts in the country are we supposed to be keeping an eye out?

I have been known to find he people who do this kind of thing. Took me 24 hours to find the 6 toed wonder who broke into my house a few years back. So far I have found out that it is a local bunch of 4-5 punks. I have a few meetings this morning so I will get on to it this afternoon.
I will post photies when I am at my Mac later. I am based in central Bournemouth.

Sorry to hear this. Hope you have some luck in tracing the bikes and the scrotes who stole them.

I may have had some luck. A neighbour confronted the scrotes and is pretty sure he recognised one of them. Police are now in posession of his name, his parole officers name and his last known address. I have recovered a wheel but not a lot else. It is local scumbags.

I will find them.

Insurance co are sending an assessor and all the LBS are keeping an eye out.

Police have been harassed so they are actually doing something.

They sent round two very friendly crime prevention officers who have looked at the garage, sucked thier teeth and proclaimed that they dont know how to make it more secure. Thanks - I know.....

I will do a second tour of the second hand shops and cash converter places tomorrow.

This is my P'n J when new, it is now a little worn and scratched (as it should be) it has "Gooby" sticker on one side of the rear swing arm and a PH sticker on the other side. If found, there will be a reward. If you give me info that allows me to retrieve the kidneys of the little scrotes, I wil also be very generous.

I have a nice bottle of red that will go well with kidney .... or liver .....

Thank god for insurance, this thread has just made me check my policy. Just curious if the bikes were secured inside the garage, if not it might be an idea next time to chain them down to some anchor bolts.

. I had the friendly ladies from the police come round to give me advice on how to secure my property. They were lost as how I can improve the set up I have.
I am recessing the roller door so it can't be levered from the bottom. Something that is ment to be Impossible with the existing door. I am more than a little pissy about this. A £1500 secure garage door that has failed at first serious attempt.

The bikes were locked but not secured to the wall. That will change. I am putting a security light and an alarm in. My aim with the alarm is to get some mega alarms, I want at least 200 to 300 db so you can not bear to be in the garage when triggered. I am also putting in a low light web cam to record and store off site.

Any other suggestions?

sounds like you have all bases covered. Maybe a bit of a pain for access, but how about having the bottom lip of the door drop down over some ground 'u' bolts that you can secure with padlocks, locking the door down.

Ground anchors, Abus do them for about £60, well worth it. With a motorcycle chain and perhaps a humungous D-lock.

not actually possible. The door is a compact low profile aluminium roller door on a automatic door opener so I can just drive in. The car is my daily driver so I am always in and out. What has pissed me off is that when down the top of the door is locked into position so it can not be forced. Evidently it doesn't work.

Just thinking about the whole thing is making my blood boil. Is it wrong that I am fantasizing over what to do to the little fekkers?

This is the route I've taken since my recent break-in.
Humongous ground anchor & chain for the expensive bikes and a cheaper B&Q special for the kids' bikes just in case the next thief goes for a consolation prize...
