I don't really know why I'm posting here. Seen some people do it and could never understand why, but writing thoughts down and speaking to people that have been through it before seems to make sense. I dont write a diary or any of that girly crap, but I need to gather my thoughts.
I just found out my Grandma died while on Holiday this morning. She was originally from India but moved to England with my Grandfather, when he was a Commander in the RAF in India in the 60's.
She'd been living here for 40 odd years and went back to India every year to see family. She went in November this year to attend my cousin's wedding. We went out with her and she was in perfect health for an 88 year old. Could still walk by herself and was in sound mind too.
She decided to go and see her friends and family in her birthplace when she was taken ill. The first time she'd been there in 13 years. She died before the Ambulance reached the house. Strange how it's a full circle, born in India, lived in England, but died in India, in the same house she was born in.
My Grandparents had been married for 76 years. Yes, that's right, she got married when she was 12. That's the way it was back then in India, and they haven't been apart since.
This will be their first day apart, or not speaking to each other, in 76 years. I'm broken. I cant help but feel for my Granddad, my parents and my family. I am the strong one, I am the organised one, I am the rock. But not today.
I now need to re-patriate her body, while my family fly out to India, but have no idea how, as she still has an Indian passport.
If anyone can help me with advice, I would sincerely appreciate it. I dont feel like speaking to anyone in person so I guess that's why I posted here...
