Pretty hacked off with price changes to Perth - taxes now nearly as much as the fking tickets. Economy tickets used to be available for around £700 - now looking closer to £900 for April 1 departure. Maybe the prices are an April Fool's joke!!

Anyway, anybody know what time of year one can get less raped on air fares to Perth?

Prefer emirates from Manchester, via Dubai - but anything will do.

Just booked some tickets myself to go, Perth was an expensive option. Although I've taken a hit and will be flying into Melbourne (Brother Lives there, Sister is in Perth) Still cost me £800 return via Singapore on Qantas. Flying March 1st.

A mate has just left and he paid £500 one way to Melbourne (same route) he went 2 weeks ago.. Had loads of trouble getting my flights for under £1K! Airlines and Travel agents don't seem to be to interested these days in getting you the cheapest flights.

Depends on when you want to go and when you want to come back.. I seem to recall August / September being cheaper than any other time (although I could be wrong?)

Possibly March or sometime after the end of the UK summer, maybe late September or October. I'd get on the lookout for deals though as every agent seems to have something cheap to Oz and sometimes they'll offer a surprisngly wide range of dates to fly!

I'm from Perth. My wife now says "why didn't we move back there when the kids were younger"....

now kids are settled in school, I've just changed careers etc etc I'll have to wait a few more years...

..but TBH I kinda prefer Europe to Perth.

This year there were loads of discounts to fly to that part of the world. My flights with Singapore were £407 (LHR to Melbourne, Sydney to LHR) and i leave in about 12hrs biggrin

So you can get lucky, but it's hard as if you wait for a sale and it never comes then flights get even more expensive!

It could be because it is Easter weekend and an expensive time to travel, can you delay for a couple of weeks?

I did find one for £703 MAN - PER, but there were 2 changes along the way. I checked for 1 traveller for 14 days.

Really? That's coming in to the Australian summertime and would, presumably, be more expensive.

Avoid any holiday times and Oz summer... basically, our summer time before school breaks up I'd have thought.

Yep strangely even though it is Aussie summer, there are fewer people in the UK able to take a long holiday at that time so it's often a bit cheaper. The Aussie winter is often busier though and therefore more expensive as everyone in the UK seems to be heading out!

£900 sounds OK to me but I often travel near Xmas so have to do a bit of bending over for them frown
