Dog Pad injuries

Looking for some Vet advice if possible please, our Lab had a small cut to his pad after his walk and
anyone who has a dog will know its bleeds profusely from such a small cut. My question is can a small
amount of superglue be safely administered to the cut?
I have used Germolene New Skin on myself for cuts and splits and it initially stings like billyo so wouldn't
want to use that but superglue always seems less severe.

ours (rotties) have done this before and it always seems to heal really quick just on its own

one of our Bengals had this, they had to remove the toe, hopefully a dogs pad is bigger and therefor stitchable

Stuff the cut with Vaseline.









PS. I am not a vet, but have used this on my dogs.

get through a tube of superglue on my lurchers a month!

split nails, ripped off nails, sliced ears, skin tears...all glued up. Easy way to stop bleeding if nothing else.

only time i took one of them to a vet was when they had to amputate his rear leg at the hip....i suggested a kitchen knife and epoxy to wifey but she was having none of it.

I took my dog to the vet when he sliced his pad on broken glass.

Fixed with some super glue, household staples, a bit of Vaseline and a sock over the paw to stop him playing with it.

Keep it wrapped with a towel and keep the dog quiet for a bit and it soon heals up.

I'd swill the cut out using a saline tube, then use an ordinary non stick dressing pad and then cover it over with vet wrap and perhaps a sock if the dog was worried by it. Not sure about superglue!

Reminds me of when our two were fighting, one got a 1.5" laceration to the groin area.

The (now ex) Mrs was some what surprised when I said 'that needs stiching, go fetch your thickest thread and smallest needle.

Rubbed Savlon onto the thread & needle, my fingers and the wound.

I put about 4 stiches in and the dog laid perfectly still throughout the whole procedure and just let me get on with it.

Tell you what, I miss that dog far far more than I miss the ex Mrs.

ahh...my dogs are pussies. They would go mental if i did that....however, i can drip superglue on the wound while they sleep so when they wake up its all good!

dogs are pretty tuff...if split pads and torn nails where life threatening the wolf would have gone years ago! Stuff like that always heals in the end....i only superglue to speed it up and keep blood off the floor

really - a vet fixed it with 'household staples' I hope not and seriously doubt it.

Superglue was originally a wound glue but all depends on depth of cut, what cut it etc, pads don't stitch well as pad itself has poor tissue (it's bascially dead skin.

Must not let dog lick, if don't want to take to vet must have a clean sealed healing wound within a couple of days, if not will most likely need vet tx and antibiotics

I had to take our dog to the vet yesterday as she had ripped her ear on barbed wire, he used staples to my amazement, apparently it is very common nowadays, as puting stitch's in would have involved a general anesthetic.

Yep surgical staples are muuch more commin and often dogs (and cats) tolerate them without the need for anaesthetics (not even local) Only ok if wound fresh though.

Just very much doubt a vet would use household staples as been mentioned.

Most probably platinum staples! Cost me £85!

I sometimes wonder this myself, I am assured that she is a Labradoodle. Although she does resemble a teddy bear!
