Hi there,

I can't seem to find the information about the colour of the Red Rose button when it is on 95 and when on 98. Colour changes between green and red?

Many thanks.

When I was a nipper and the cerb poster was on the ceiling next to Cindy Crawford, I used to think the RR button changed the colour of the dash backlighting. I thought that was so cool. Ok I still think that would be cool.

Green for 95 and red for 97 (not 98).
It does actually work - it does retard the timing and will stop pinking if you have lower octane fuel.

So what exactly are you saying that the RR button does?

Does it -

- increase performance when you are using good fuel

or

- decrease it if using low-octane fuel?

Just curious.

In my experience (and evidenced on the rolling road)....
By switching the button to 95 it stopped any pinking. I didnt measure the impact on performance (bhp/torque). But the retarding of the timing / pressing the button had an effect.

I fitted an octane switch a few weeks ago
The colours are green and orange rather than red
It reportedly retards the ignition by 4 degrees
IIRC it was an actual reduction of 3.7 according to Easimap

Hi Thomas,

The car was remapped on Shell V-Power 99 RON fuel with the switch illuminated red and as others on here have said in the green position, the ignition is retarded by 4 degrees.

What power did yours put out when it was remapped?

Gazzab,

Mine made 413bhp before mapping and 423bhp with SP back box and Whirlwind induction after mapping, at 38,000 miles.
