...with my starter motor. It's cold in the garage nowadays and I'm just a softy penpusher smile Anyway took it out again (only took me twenty minutes this time!) and, following Ireland's advice, I've decided to have the whole thing refurbished or buy a new one.

I've seen the link from Ridds about having my existing starter refurbished by CCW in Lincoln but I've also found this on Fleabay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TVR-CERBERA-NEW-STARTER-MOTO...

Anyone tried one of these or have any experience of the company? With the cost of posting mine to Lincoln the difference is only about £40.00 for the new one. Anyone any thoughts?

Just my 2p worth, in the spring I bought an upgraded starter from Levens in Essex, have since been stuck in a massive queue at eurotunnel in the summer, done track days etc and the engine has got very hot each time, but the starter motor has never let me down. The previous new starter had hot start problems from 6 months old.

You don't have to send it away you just get them to post you the gear unit and you change it over. 4 screws and you're done.

If you can get the starter out you can change the gear unit. wink

I'm 99% sure that they are the crowd I got my new starter off.

It fitted perfectly and has done about 10,000 miles worth of starts without missing a beat.

For me too the fact that a new one was so close in price to a re-con made me go for the new one.

I'm glad I did ..... once was enough to do that job.
