Thatcham approved

Hi guys quick question on alarm immoboliser for insurance... my new insurers claiming the immoboliser on an F430 is not Thatcham approved! does anyone know which system is used as standard fitment and is it approved?

I was told that thatcham approval was car specific and that to gain it the manufacturer had to supply a car for them to virtually destroy in the process. I can't see Ferrari doing that!
Way back when I first had this problem I got Maserati Uk to supply a document which satisfied the insurer.

My insurance company(admiral) said it didn't matter that it wasn't approved, they just wanted to make sure there was one installed.

I have had no problem on a 360 and Gallardo with a number of insurance companies. Worst case they just need a certificate to say it is installed. Maybe time to move insurance company?

I've checked the manual which says the system is called Ferrari code.. surely Ferrari wouldn't install a system that wasn't recognised over here! Need to speak to Adrian Flux next week to clarify this situation...

Could be just poor Admin work from the Insurer which should never happen considering your annual premium for such a car! I would demand a refund and move else where if they want you to fit an after market device!

Done some homework for you Nick! speaking to Ferrari dealer today and was told even though some insurers don't have the ferrari alarm registered in their charts as thatcham approved they always over ride that if you have the cobra navtrak installed! If you have any problem let me know and I'll mail you details of insurers that will happily accept any Ferrari with alarm and Navtrak..

I have sorted this out. We accept Ferrari factory fitted alarm/immob as the same as cat1. You should have confirmation e-mail shortly. Let me know if you have any problems.
